Doughnuts!
So, I follow Pioneer Womans Blog , and when I say follow it I mean I read it every day. And when I say I read it every day I mean I sit and literally look at every picture, recipe, beauty tip, contest etc. for hours a day. It's a sickness that I plan on seeking medical advice for in the near future.
Anyhow, on Monday she posted a recipe for doughnuts . I couldnt wait to try them. No really, I couldnt wait to try them as in I made them at work that night. Lucky for me I work in a kitchen and happen to be a pastry cook. Pretty nice deal if I don't say so myself. Well, her recipe calls for letting the dough rest overnight before rolling, cutting and rising but we had no time for that. There were hungry men waiting for the things, ok! So we skipped that part and just let the dough hang out covered in a warm spot, then after about 2 hours we rolled, cut and rose them again. Then we gave the things a bubble bath in the fryer, glazed them and viola! Doughnuts!
I will say this, they were delicious right out of the fryer but when they cooled I didnt like them as much. Kinda got dry or something but the left over dough I had I put away and made more in the morning and they came out great and were still good after they had cooled. So my advice is to follow the recipe...but you do that already, right?
Happy Frying!
